Types of Martial Arts used in class

Hapkido

System for both long range and close quarters self defense that employs joint locks, grappling, throwing techniques, kicks, punches, and other striking attacks. Hapkido uses leverage over brute force in a confrontational situation.

(American ) Kenpo Karate

A system for close quarters situations that utilizes quick strikes to the attacker using the body’s natural weapons.  Each move leads, or transitions, into the next successive move both applying the next striking technique while countering any possible move from the opponent.  Kenpo employs both circular and linear techniques.

Jiu-Jitsu – The “Gentle” Art

A powerful system based on ground defense and submission techniques.  Jiu-Jitsu is based on the concept of a smaller, weaker person being able to defend themselves on the ground by using leverage and proper weigh distribution in addition to various chokes, locks, and submissions.

Taekwondo

A long range system focusing on kicking techniques.  Proper taekwondo utilizes common-sense  kicking techniques to areas of the body relative to the abilities of those executing them.  Kicking and bag drills will be utilized in this class.
